Lansdowne is a most peaceful & beautiful hill station of North India . . Its situated at the height of 1700 meters above sea level, and surrounded with thick tall oak and blue pine forests in Pauri Gharwal District of Uttarakhand India. The station got its name from Lord Lansdown, Who was the Viceroy of India since 1888 to 1894. Currently Lansdown has command office of Garhwal Rifles division of the Indian Army. It is well connected with Delhi, Haridwar, Meerut, etc. The nearest railway station is Kotdwar at a distance of 41 km. The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun at a distance of 153 km via Haridwar-Kotdwar road. Its distance is 275 km by road from Delhi via Meerut, Bijnore, Kotdwar.
Place to visit in Lansdowne

St. Mary's Church was established by the Col. A.H.B Hume of the Royal Engineers in 1895. The church is adjacent to the Tip-In-Top point one of the popular destinations in Lansdowne. During 1947 the church was no longer used because of its bad condition. After that the Garhwal Rifles Regimental center turned this church into a museum. They also housed many pictures related to the pre-independence era. The museum also includes audio visual displays of past days of the regiment.

Tip-In-Top is situated closer to the St. Mary's Church surrounded with greeneries. This tourist destination also very popular by the name of Tiffin Top among the visitors. The name of the site is on the tongue of the tourists, they must take a visit visiting Lansdowne. From this point people can easily see the mighty peaks of Himalaya and some area of Tibet as well.

Hawaghar is a calm, unagitated and tranquil place where people love to visit. Tourists can enjoy seeing the snow capped mountains of the mighty Himalayas. Garhwal Mess is one of the oldest building in this hill station. This Garhwali Mess building was constructed by the British in January 1988. The mess kept alive the rich heritage of the hilly town. The mess is considered as a museum in Asia combining of wild animal skins, furnishings and trophies.

Bhulla tal is a popular tourist destination in Lansdowne. The Bhulla tal is dedicated to the youths of the Garhwal Rifles who sacrificed their life while serving the nation. In Garhwal Bhulla means "young brother" in Garhwali language hence the name became popular among the tourists. The surroundings of the Bhulla Tal combine a beautiful fountain, children's park and a bamboo machan which attracts tourists a lot with their families.

Kanvashram is one of the most adored and sacred ashram in Lansdowne, in Uttarakhand State. According to the Hindu mythos the ashram is of immense respect and importance. Devotees and tourist round the year visit the site. The ashram is surrounded by dense forests and hillocks. It is believed that the son of Sankuntala, Bharat was born at this holly place. A famous sage Kanva was a step father of step daughter Shankuntala.
